Turn key project automated production HFI Precision Technologies in Groenlo

HFI is looking for partners who supply and guarantee a stable process in machining. Such as for the automated production of a complex automotive product in 15 different variants, for which Dormac CNC Solutions has developed two production cells.

The customers of HFI Precision Technologies in Groenlo are not looking for the cheapest supplier. Quality and delivery reliability are paramount, as is engineering knowledge to translate their product designs into modern production technology so that the supplier can ultimately produce the components as efficiently as possible. “Our customers are looking for cost savings. Our QLTC team sits down with them for this. This is where we distinguish ourselves”, says Arnold van de Wetering, board member of the Groenlo Tier 1 supplier. He wants to grow with the company, but in a controlled manner, so that the promises continue to be fulfilled. “For a good performance, 20 to 30 percent growth per year is not done.”

QLTC approach

HFI Precision Technologies has invested in this QLTC approach in recent years, which stands for Quality Logistics Technology Costs. By systematically working on all four aspects of assignments, HFI Precision Technologies increases quality, efficiency, delivery reliability and systematically reduces costs. “Automotive and semicon, two of the markets in which we operate, have been working with this concept for some time. Where in the past the purchaser bought on price, we now see that more and more sectors are craving this approach and are embracing this concept,” says Arnold van de Wetering. Clients from the oil and gas industry, the medical industry and the global measurement industry also choose HFI because of this approach. This automatically means that the supplier, with about 70 employees, wins projects that run for a longer period of time. Two to five years is common. “Customers want certainty about performance. Qualification costs for new products are often expensive and time consuming for them. Then you don't just change supplier.” The product and order variation at HFI is large. Of some parts, customers order 100 per year, of others half a million are produced annually in Groenlo. “We combine high and low volume production on the same production lines, which is quite special.” This is partly achieved by keeping stocks for large volumes in consultation with customers; partly it's because of the flexible scheduling system that makes it easy to schedule small orders; and partly because HFI can smoothly shift from three to four or five shifts and back again. And smart automation contributes to this.
